Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Water and Wastewater Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards. This role requires a strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, heavy equipment operation, and data collection techniques. The Water and Wastewater Operator will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of our water treatment systems. Duties Operate and monitor water and wastewater treatment processes to ensure optimal performance. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery, including heavy equipment operation. Collect and analyze data related to water and wastewater treatment operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Utilize logic controllers and distributed control systems for process management. Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues related to water and wastewater treatment systems. Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and data collection results. Collaborate with team members to build effective solutions for operational challenges. Requirements Proven experience in water and wastewater treatment Familiarity with logic controllers and distributed control systems is a plus. Strong skills in data collection and analysis related to water treatment processes. Basic math skills are essential for calculations related to chemical dosing and flow rates. Ability to work effectively in a team environment while also being self-motivated. Knowledge of safety regulations and practices within the water and wastewater industry is required. Position Overview Under close supervision, performs the day-to-day duties associated with the operation of a water or wastewater facility. Has working knowledge of required procedures, equipment and operating standards and is able to resolve minor routine problems. Reports to the Facility Operations Supervisor and requires guidance to operate the facility.

Essential Job Functions Water Treatment Plant:

• Controls treatment plant machines and equipment to purify and clarify water for human consumption.
• Operates and controls electric motors, pumps, valves to regulate flow.
• Admit specified amounts of chemicals.
• Monitors, adjusts controls to regulate flow, pressure, and distribution of water.
• Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment using hand tools / power tools.
• Tests water samples.
• Records data.

Wastewater Treatment Plant:

• Operates sewage treatment, sludge processing and disposal equipment to control flow and processing of sewage.
• Monitors control panels.
• Adjusts valves and gates.
• Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and tests results to determine load requirements.
• Starts and stops pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of raw sewage, through filtering, settlings, aeration, and sludge digestion processes.
• Maintains log or operations and records meter and gauge readings. Collects sewage samples and conducts lab tests using testing equipment.
• On call duty required with reliable transportation.
• Other duties as required. Education and Experience Requirements
• High School or GED
• Minimum "C" Water and "C" Wastewater Certificates issued by the TCEQ
• Possess and maintain valid driver's license and good driving record Other Skills/Abilities

• Have a mechanical background and skills maintaining mechanical systems and tools.
• Must be a team player committed to working in a quality environment.
• On a daily basis, requires the ability to read, write, compile, and analyze data and reports.
• Ability to express self logically and concisely in both oral and written form.
• Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Be safety and environmentally conscious and follow all required safety and environmental procedures.
• Willing to work all shifts, including weekends, holidays, evening and 24-hour emergency on call.
