08/09 Provo City is seeking a full-time Wastewater Collections Operator (App. - I) to perform maintenance work for the Provo City wastewater collection system. This includes operating equipment to clean and repair sewer lines and related areas of the sewer and wastewater collection system. For more information about benefits click here. What are the main duties? Operate power rodding equipment and high-pressure jet-vac unit to clear sewer lines, ditches, and culverts. Operate closed circuit television viewing and sealing equipment to detect leaks and obstructions of sewer mains and laterals. Seal leaks using packing units. Locate manholes, sewer clean outs, and main sewer lines using photos, metal detectors, and maps. Place traffic cones, signs, and barricades for the protection of employees and members of the public. Maintain pump stations and grounds including clearing manholes, catch-basins, and surrounding areas. Assist in general construction projects including raising and lowering manholes to grade. Assist in performing minor maintenance and repair of equipment. Assist others as needed and perform other related duties as required. Higher levels will perform duties with progressively more independence and additional supervisory responsibilities. Please see classifications specifications (attached below) for more details. What are the minimum requirements? At all Levels High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). A valid, lawful Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL). Flagger certificate. Apprentice Must meet the requirements for all levels except a valid, lawful Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) and a Flagger certificate required within the first 6 months of hire. One (1) year of experience in general construction, maintenance, semi-skilled craft or trade or work that demonstrates mechanical aptitude. Level I Must meet the requirements for all levels and One (1) year of professional water/wastewater operator experience A valid, lawful Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL). A Grade I Wastewater Operator certificate A Flagger certificate Level II Must meet the requirements for all levels and Grade II Wastewater Operator certificate Two (2) years of water/wastewater operator experience Level III Must meet the requirements for all levels and Grade III Wastewater Operator certificate Three (3) years of water/wastewater operator experience Level IV Must meet the requirements for all levels and Four (4) years of experience in active water resources projects, and completion of applicable cross-training and advanced leadership courses Utah Wastewater-Restricted Operator Grade IV Certificate What is the selection process? Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration. If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
