Job Description

This position is responsible for managing, supervising, and coordinating all activities related to food safety and sanitation programs within the facility. The Sanitation Supervisor ensures effective execution of plant cleaning and sanitation operations, while maintaining strict compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety standards, and company sanitation policies and procedures. The role requires a strong commitment to workplace safety, with an expectation to consistently adhere to and promote safety work rules. The Sanitation Supervisor plays a key role in reinforcing Safety as a Core Value throughout the organization. This position also ensures that all food safety and quality policies, procedures, and activities are uniformly followed and enforced, with the goal of minimizing product and process variability and maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee sanitation of the entire plant, including both interior and exterior areasDevelop, monitor, and update all plant sanitation procedures and practices as neededSupervise sanitation and janitorial staff, including daily activities and performance managementTrain employees on proper methods for testing chemical concentrations and maintaining test kitsOrganize the sanitation crew efficiently to maximize resources; schedule work assignments and participate in hiring, termination, and performance evaluationsMonitor and assist sanitation employees during equipment cleaning to ensure proper sanitation practices and chemical safetyTrack and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including the Master Sanitation Program, pre-operational inspections, and visual observationsCommunicate sanitation-related issues or potential concerns to management promptlyMonitor Clean-Out-of-Place (COP) systems and act as liaison with ChemStation to ensure proper system function and accuracyAssist in preparation for third-party audits and participate in the auditing processLead the cross-functional sanitation team to drive continuous improvementConduct safety and educational training sessions for sanitation staffManage inventory and ordering of sanitation suppliesTake personal responsibility for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace; adhere to all safety policies and proceduresFollow quality work practices, GMPs, and sanitary conditions to ensure product quality; report any conditions that may impact food safety or qualityEnsure compliance with all regulatory requirements at all timesActively lead and/or participate in the plant safety teamPerform other duties as assigned by management Education, Experience, and Skills (Preferred, not required): Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environmentMinimum of three years of successful experience in sanitation within the food industryPrior experience in a food manufacturing environment strongly preferredKnowledge of sanitation chemicals and proper chemical usageProven leadership and team management skillsStrong verbal and written communication abilitiesProficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and WordBilingual in Spanish and English preferred
