Responsibilities Read and interpret shop drawings, cut sheets and fabrication details Lay out, cut, fit and weld structural steel components including primary framing, secondary framing and miscellaneous steel Operate shop equipment such as saws, drills, ironworkers, grinders and torches Measure and verify material dimensions before and after fabrication Perform quality checks on welds and finished assemblies Prepare and stage completed material for loading and shipment Keep the work area, tools and equipment clean and in safe working condition Follow all shop safety procedures and wear required PPE Communicate with shop leadership on material shortages, drawing questions or fabrication issues Required Qualifications Previous welding and fabrication experience Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and fabrication details Proficiency with MIG and/or stick welding Accurate use of tape measure, square and other layout tools Ability to lift, bend, stand and work on your feet for extended periods Reliable attendance for an in-person Monday-Friday schedule Ability to work safely in a shop environment around heavy material and equipment Preferred Qualifications Experience fabricating structural steel or pre-engineered metal building components Welding certification Experience operating overhead cranes or forklifts Experience with layout and fit-up on built-up plate girders or trusses Prior work for a metal building manufacturer or steel fabricator Weld Test All applicants should be prepared to complete a hands-on weld test as part of the hiring process. Please be ready to demonstrate your welding ability in person. Schedule and Work Location Onsite at All Metal Building Systems in Dothan, Alabama Monday through Friday Overtime may be available depending on workload Not a remote or hybrid position Pay and Benefits Pay is based on experience, skill level and welding ability.
