Job Title:
Welder Job Description As a Welder, you will be responsible for welding all necessary parts and joints of the trailer according to engineering specifications. You will utilize your skills in MIG welding, either steel or aluminum trailer parts, and work in both flat and vertical positions. Responsibilities Set up the welding station and use an overhead crane to pick up beams and place them in setup. Tack weld cross members onto beams and weld suspension buckets onto beams. Place and secure landing gear onto beams, and tack weld landing gear braces. Utilize pneumatic impact gun to bolt landing gear onto braces. Weld king pin nest onto the front of beams and weld front skirt onto beams. Weld K braces, V braces, tank brackets, and backing plates as necessary. Set up floor sills, side rails, and weld all floor sills to beams. Weld tail skirt, bumper, winch track, mid turn bracket, and side rail braces. Move trailer to Turn Fixture Welding Station and secure using overhead crane. Perform any necessary welding on the trailer in the turn fixture. Essential Skills Proficiency in MIG welding for both steel and aluminum. Ability to weld in flat and vertical positions. Mechanical skills and basic math skills. Capability to read tape measures, weld symbols, and blueprints accurately. Pass a specified weld test, including T joint weld, flat weld, and welding on Fontaine trailer. Additional Skills & Qualifications Formal welding training. Experience in assembly and production environments. Experience with TIG, flux core, stainless steel fitting, and fabrication.
