Job Description Overview Production Welder with experience or training capable of performing a variety of welding functions. The individual should be familiar with and capable of using various types of welding equipment. A welder is also required to perform other miscellaneous tasks, as supervision deems necessary. Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprint and work instructions to determine specific welding requirements Connect cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, per blueprint Make adjustment to produce to quality parts to specific dimensions Examines weld for bead size and other specifications Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jig or fixtures Tack assemblies together Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter Clean or de-greases parts Perform all necessary maintenance and repair on all equipment used in welding Be able to move parts in and move finished product out of welding area Bolt, clamp, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding Qualifications At least eighteen (18) years of age and eligible to work in the United States Able to pass a post offer drug test, background check, and fitness review Demonstrate high attention to detail and self-motivation skills Willing to train, work, and rotate through all department workstations and work in other departments as needed Capable of working in seasonal high temperatures and humidity (conditioned air environment) Experience is a plus but not required Working Conditions The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those and employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position may involve potential exposure to hazardous materials, and environmental changes (heat/cold), and the employee must be able to work under stress occasioned by production requirements, personnel, and the needs of other departments, utilizing proper body mechanics.
