This position requires someone who is comfortable working from blueprints and fabrication drawings, fitting and assembling components, and performing high-quality welds in a production and/or field environment. A major emphasis for this position is Air Carbon Arc Gouging (Air Arcing), along with strong MIG welding and pipe welding experience. Candidates should be well-rounded welders capable of working with multiple processes and completing fabrication work safely and accurately.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform
MIG/GMAW
welding on a variety of fabricated metal components. Perform Air Carbon Arc Gouging / Air Arcing (CAC-A) for weld removal, joint preparation, repair work, and fabrication. Perform pipe welding, fitting, and related fabrication work. Utilize additional welding processes including TIG/GTAW, Stick/SMAW, and FCAW as required. Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and welding specifications. Fit, cut, tack, weld, and finish metal components and assemblies. Operate plasma cutters, grinders, hand tools, power tools, and other fabrication equipment. Measure and lay out materials using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools. Inspect completed welds and fabricated components for quality, fit, and adherence to specifications. Follow applicable
AWS/ASME
standards, OSHA requirements, and company safety procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Qualifications:
Prior professional welding and fabrication experience required. Strong Air Carbon Arc Gouging / Air Arcing experience is highly important for this position. Strong
MIG/GMAW
welding experience required. Previous pipe welding experience strongly preferred. Experience with multiple welding processes such as Stick/SMAW, TIG/GTAW, and FCAW. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings. Experience fitting and fabricating metal assemblies. Comfortable using grinders, plasma cutters, cutting equipment, and common fabrication tools. Knowledge of weld preparation, joint preparation, repair welding, and metal fabrication practices. Ability to work safely in a fast-paced fabrication or construction environment. Welding certification through AWS or another recognized program is preferred.
