Job Description

General Description The Welder II is responsible for the fabrication and repair of vacuum‑jacketed piping and components. This intermediate‑level role performs a full range of welding assignments with minimal supervision and maintains low rejection rates on weld quality and testing. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform welding in flat, vertical, overhead, and 6G positions. Lay out, align, and assemble parts using standard measuring tools. Weld stainless steel and other alloys using TIG, MIG, and related processes. Operate welding and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently. Inspect workpieces for defects and verify conformance to specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders. Prepare, clamp, tack, grind, and finish components for welding. Monitor welding processes to prevent overheating, distortion, or defects. Use hand and power tools common to the welding trade. Mark materials with proper job and identification information. Perform general physical tasks including standing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs. Work Activities Fabrication, assembly, and repair of metal components. Equipment operation, material handling, and quality inspection. Maintaining safe work habits and proper use of PPE. Communicating with supervisors and team members.
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
Experience:
2-5+ years welding experience. Proficiency with TIG and other welding processes. Ability to read technical documents and use measuring tools. Knowledge of welding safety standards.
Skills:
Equipment operation and process control. Quality inspection and testing. Tool and equipment selection. Basic mechanical repair.
Licenses/Certifications:
