Job Description

SkillsetGroup is seeking a MIG Welder to work in the Santa Fe Springs, CA area. The MIG Welder will work in an R D machine shop environment fabricating, assembling, and testing prototype liftgate components and units. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of aluminum MIG welding experience, strong blueprint-reading skills, and experience with acetylene torches, plasma cutters, and general fabrication equipment. This is a Temp-to-Hire opportunity on 1st shift.

$22-$26/hr

Shift Responsibilities:
  • Set up, fabricate, weld, and assemble prototype parts and liftgate components.
  • Build components from engineering drawings, sketches, schematics, or verbal instructions.
  • Perform MIG welding on aluminum materials.
  • Operate acetylene torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, band saws, grinders, forklifts, and hand tools.
  • Handle heavy equipment and materials safely.
  • Assist with the assembly and testing of prototype liftgate components and complete units.
  • Follow welding standards, specifications, and workplace safety procedures.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of on-the-job aluminum MIG welding experience.
  • Manual acetylene torch and plasma cutting experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and welding specifications.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Certified welder preferred.
  • Hydraulic liftgate or truck mechanic experience is a plus.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong safety awareness.
  • Steel-toe shoes and basic shop hand tools required on day one.
