• Job Title: Welder
• Job Description
• This role focuses on the construction of secure containment rooms using MIG welding and, eventually, some TIG welding.

You will build wall panels, install drywall, perform painting, and carry out general fabrication and assembly tasks. About half of your time will be spent welding, while the remaining time will be devoted to panel building and other shop activities. You will work in teams, use hand and power tools to measure and cut materials, and follow drawings that you will be trained to read. Strong measurement skills, especially reading a tape measure down to 1/16 of an inch, are essential.

• Responsibilities
• + Construct secure containment rooms from metal components and other building materials.

+ Perform MIG welding as the primary welding method and complete an all-positions groove plate weld test.

+ Support TIG welding activities and complete a TIG weld test to assess current TIG skills.

+ Build wall panels and assemble structural components according to drawings and specifications.

+ Use hand and power tools to measure, cut, and prepare materials to precise dimensions.

+ Read and interpret tape measures accurately down to 1/16 of an inch and use squares to ensure proper alignment.

+ Follow production schedules and fabrication plans in a general labor and shop environment.

+ Perform mechanical assembly tasks and general construction duties as needed.

+ Handle heavy lifting of materials and components, including weights of 50100 pounds as required.

• Essential Skills
• + Proficiency in MIG welding with the ability to pass an all-positions groove plate weld test.

+ Strong ability to read a tape measure accurately down to 1/16 of an inch.

+ Comfort using a tape measure and square to measure, mark, and cut product to size.

+ Experience in construction, assembly, fabrication, or a shop setting.

+ Proficiency with hand tools and power tools in a fabrication or construction environment.

+ Capability to perform general labor, mechanical assembly, and production work.

+ Ability to lift and move 50100 pounds as needed.

+ Willingness and ability to travel approximately three times per year for about two weeks per trip.

• Additional Skills & Qualifications
• + Experience with MIG welding in a production or fabrication environment.

+ Experience in fabrication and mechanical assembly in a shop or manufacturing setting.

+ Familiarity with using chop saws, bandsaws, and shears for cutting and preparing materials.

+ Ability to work effectively in teams and collaborate on complex build projects.

+ Comfort working in an open-air shop environment.

+ Adaptability to different tasks, including welding, panel building, general labor, and finishing work.

• Work Environment
• You will work in an open-air shop environment alongside a diverse workforce and in team-based settings.

Standard hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with adjusted summer hours from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. All necessary tools are provided, and you will regularly use hand and power tools, welding equipment, and cutting tools such as chop saws, bandsaws, and shears. The role involves shop-based fabrication, assembly, and general labor tasks, as well as periodic travelapproximately three trips per year, each lasting about two weeksto support work at other locations.

• Pay and Benefits
• The pay range for this position is $18.

00 - $20.00/hr.
