Job Description

Brick City Metals is seeking a skilled and dedicated Welder to join our fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for welding steel and aluminum components used in vertical access systems and structural assemblies deployed across power substations, electrical network infrastructure, and water management facilities.

WHAT THE ROLE DOES
Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, technical drawings, and work orders to plan and execute welds to specification Perform MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding on carbon steel and aluminum materials in multiple positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead) Fabricate and assemble structural components including ladders, platforms, safety cages, handrails, and related vertical access system parts Set up and operate welding equipment, positioners, and fixtures; adjust settings for material type, thickness, and weld process Inspect completed welds for quality, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with
AWS D1.1/D1.2
standards and customer specifications Perform grinding, cutting, gouging, and other metal preparation tasks prior to and following welding operations Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow all safety protocols including PPE requirements, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and hot work practices Complete required production documentation, weld logs, and quality records accurately and on time Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production status, quality concerns, and material needs Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of quality and workplace safety
THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS
Minimum 2 years of hands-on welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment Demonstrated proficiency in MIG welding of carbon steel and/or aluminum; TIG experience a plus Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and material specifications Knowledge of proper weld joint preparation, fit-up techniques, and distortion control methods Familiarity with AWS welding standards and general quality requirements Ability to use hand tools, measurement equipment (tape measures, squares, calipers), and angle grinders Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing defect-free work Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various physical positions throughout the shift Local to Ocala, FL area
