Certified Welder /Fabricator Job Summary:
The Certified Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, assembling, welding, and finishing metal components and structures according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The role requires strong knowledge of fabrication processes, welding techniques, dimensional inspection, and safe work practices.Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and work instructions. Perform cutting, forming, fitting, welding, grinding, and finishing of metal components. Use MIG approved welding processes as required. Set up and operate fabrication equipment, grinders, drills, and welding machines. Measure and verify dimensions using tape measures, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools. Perform fit-up and alignment of fabricated assemblies to required tolerances. Follow approved welding procedures, WPS/PQR requirements, and customer specifications. Inspect completed work for weld quality, dimensional accuracy, and workmanship. Identify and correct fabrication defects and dimensional issues. Maintain welding and fabrication certifications as required. Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all safety procedures. Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to resolve fabrication issues.Required Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma/GED or equivalent technical experience. AWS Certified welder/fabricator qualification appropriate to the position. 5+ years of fabrication and welding experience preferred. Ability to read engineering drawings and welding symbols. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment. Strong understanding of welding and metal fabrication processes. Ability to perform accurate measurements and dimensional inspections. Knowledge of material types, weld defects, tolerances, and finishing requirements. Strong attention to detail and quality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.Preferred Certifications:
AWS Certified Welder or equivalent. OSHA safety training. Forklift certification, if required. Crane/rigging certification, if applicable. Additional welding process certifications based on customer requirements.Key Competency Areas:
