Welder

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and reliable Welder to join our container modification team at A-American Container & Trailer Leasing in Tampa, FL. In this role you will be responsible for cutting, framing and welding structural modifications to ISO shipping containers using MIG and other welding processes. Your craftsmanship will ensure every modified unit meets our standards for strength, weather-tightness and clean appearance. This position offers steady year-round work in a well-equipped shop, with variety across storage units, mobile offices, workspaces and custom builds. Responsibilities Perform MIG and occasional FCAW welding to fabricate and modify steel shipping containers to customer specifications. Read and interpret shop drawings, customer prints and weld symbols to determine cut, fit and welding requirements. Use plasma cutters, oxy-fuel torches, grinders, hand tools and power tools to lay out and prepare openings for doors, windows, vents and HVAC penetrations. Cut, fit and weld structural steel framing around openings using tube, angle and channel to maintain container structural integrity. Conduct visual quality inspections to verify weld soundness, dimensional accuracy and adherence to shop standards. Maintain a clean and safe work area by following proper safety procedures, PPE requirements and hot work practices on the shop floor. Assist with rigging, fitting roll-up and personnel doors, installing windows and vents, reinforcing walls and roofs and other modification tasks as needed. Experience Proven welding experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on structural and thin-gauge work. Skilled in MIG welding on 14-gauge corten and carbon steel up to 1/4 inch plate without burn-through or excessive distortion. Familiarity with blueprint reading, weld symbols, basic mechanical knowledge and the use of hand tools and power tools. Working knowledge of

structural welding practices and shop quality standards. Experience welding shipping containers, trailers, heavy equipment or other large steel assemblies is highly desirable. Ability to perform layout, fitting, cutting, rigging and assembly tasks efficiently from prints. Basic math skills for measurements and calculations required during fabrication.
