83MetalCraft LLC — Boise, Idaho 83MetalCraft LLC is growing, and we're looking for the right person to join our fabrication team. We're looking for a Welder / Metal Fabricator with 1-3 years of experience who is ready to work, learn, solve problems, and take pride in building quality custom metalwork. This isn't a job where you'll spend eight hours sitting in a welding booth doing the same thing every day. We build custom work — and no two projects are exactly the same. Our work includes custom metal railings, stair railings, gates, ornamental metalwork, architectural fabrication, and field installation throughout Boise and the Treasure Valley.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for someone who can: MIG weld proficiently Read a tape measure accurately Understand fractions and basic geometry Perform accurate fabrication layout Use a T-bevel to capture and transfer angles Saw-cut and drill steel Fit and tack fabricated components Build railing and gate frames Properly lay out vertical pickets Use grinders and other shop tools correctly Read and understand basic fabrication drawings Measure existing conditions in the field Assist with railing and gate installations Troubleshoot welding and fabrication problems Think through unique situations instead of waiting for someone else to solve every problem Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area Most importantly, we're looking for someone who can eventually work independently. If the shop manager isn't standing over your shoulder, you should still know what needs to be done and be capable of doing it correctly.
PROBLEM SOLVING MATTERS
Custom fabrication isn't an assembly line. You will encounter situations where the measurements aren't perfect, the existing structure isn't square, the stair angle isn't what you expected, or something simply doesn't fit the way you thought it would. We need someone who can stop, think, measure, troubleshoot and find a solution. We don't expect you to know everything on day one. We do expect you to think.
PAY & HOURS PAY
depending on experience and demonstrated ability. There is also potential for additional project-based bonus pay when efficiency, quality and production goals are consistently met. We want to reward someone who can produce quality work efficiently — not someone who simply works fast and creates rework. Pay is bi-weekly.
Typical schedule:
Monday-Friday 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM 35-40 hours per week Occasional overtime may be required depending on workload and project deadlines.
THIS IS PHYSICAL, HANDS-ON WORK
This isn't a desk job. You will spend a significant amount of your day: Standing Walking Measuring Cutting Grinding Drilling Fitting Welding Moving material Building projects Working in the shop and occasionally in the field You may occasionally be required to lift 45-90 pounds, work in physically demanding positions, stand for extended periods, and perform periods of repetitive punching, grinding, fitting and welding. If you're looking for something where you can sit in a chair most of the day, this probably isn't the job for you. If you like building things with your hands and seeing a project go from raw steel to a finished piece of custom metalwork, keep reading.
SAFETY & QUALITY COME FIRST
You are expected to understand and use proper PPE, operate grinders and shop equipment safely, maintain a clean work area, and produce work that meets 83MetalCraft's standards for quality, accuracy and craftsmanship. We're not interested in sacrificing quality just to make something faster. We want efficient fabricators — not sloppy ones.
THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS POSITION
The right candidate is: Reliable. Shows up when expected. Self-motivated. Doesn't need someone standing over them. Mechanically inclined. Understands how tools and equipment work. Detail-oriented. Understands that a 1/8" mistake can become a much bigger problem later. A problem solver. Can think through a situation when the answer isn't obvious. Coach-able. Willing to learn and accept constructive criticism. Proud of their work. Wants to build something they can stand behind. Safety-minded. Understands that quality work starts with doing the job correctly and safely.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
We're looking for candidates with at least 1-3 years of relevant welding/fabrication experience. The purpose of this requirement is simple: We need someone who can eventually work independently. You don't need 20 years of experience. But you do need enough hands-on experience to understand the fundamentals and be able to perform basic fabrication duties without constant supervision.
ABOUT 83METALCRAFT
83MetalCraft LLC is a Boise-based custom metal fabrication company serving Boise and the Treasure Valley. We build custom metalwork rather than mass-produced products. That means our fabricators aren't simply performing the same operation over and over. You're going to measure something one day, build a railing the next, fabricate a gate after that, solve a difficult stair-angle problem, and then head into the field to install something you helped build. That's what makes custom fabrication interesting. You get to see the entire process — from raw material to finished product. --- INTERESTED? If you're a Welder / Fabricator with 1-3 years of experience who believes you have the skills, work ethic and attitude we're looking for, we'd like to hear from you.
