Job Title:
MIG Welder Job Description We are seeking skilled MIG Welders to join our team. The primary responsibility will involve welding on mild carbon steel in various positions. The role also requires the use of grinders, hand tools, and reading blueprints. This position is integral to finishing projects within allocated target times and involves material handling and equipment operation. Responsibilities Perform MIG welding on mild carbon steel (7-14 gauge, mainly 12 gauge) in horizontal, vertical, and circular positions. Utilize grinders and various hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and hammers. Occasionally read blueprints to guide welding tasks. Use a hand cart to pull materials needed for orders. Complete projects within specified target times, ranging from 30 minutes to 5 hours. Lift materials weighing up to 75 lbs. Operate a hydraulic welding table. Spend 90% of the day on MIG welding and 10% on transporting materials and using hand tools. Essential Skills Proficiency in MIG welding. Ability to read a tape measure accurately. Experience with vertical, horizontal, and circular welding positions. Capability to lift up to 75 lbs. Additional Skills & Qualifications 1-2 years of experience welding in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment consists of 40 welding booths with hydraulic tables, alongside fabrication machinery, conveyors, and forklifts. The environment is heavy industrial, not well-lit, and can be dirty. You will work independently in your own welding booth, interacting with team leads and supervisors throughout the day. Personal Protective Equipment, including steel-toe boots, eye protection, hoods, gloves, and sleeves, are provided. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of University Park, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
