Job Description

Waste Connections has an immediate opening for a Welder to join the team in Elkhart, IN. The Welder is responsible for welding, fabrication, and repair work on containers, compactors, trucks, trailers, and other waste industry equipment. This position supports the maintenance team by ensuring equipment is repaired safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards.

Pay Rate:
$21.00/hr + based on experience. Plus, approximately 10 or so hours of overtime weekly. (Overtime is time and a half after 40 hrs)
Schedule:
5:00am start time averaging approximately 10 hours per day. Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays.

Job Duties:
Perform welding and repair of trash containers, trash compactors, and trash trucks in our fleet. Inspect equipment to identify structural damage and repair needs. Measure, cut, fit, and weld metal components according to specifications. Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards. Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times. Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.
Requirements :
Minimum 1 years of experience in Stick welding and 2 years experience in MIG welding. Fabrication experience is a must. Proven critical thinking skills. Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement preferred. Waste Connections is an equal opportunity employer.
