"A Day in the Life" As a Welder you will join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. You will interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. You will also inspect completed welds to determine structural soundness. Working individually, you will inspect welding work of others to ensure completeness of work and code compliance. "What You'll Do" Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding technique Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process Inspect completed welds to determine structural soundness Inspect, repairs, installs, modifies, and performs welds, and maintains welding equipment Maintain inventory, tools, supplies and work area in an organized manner May be required to perform troubleshooting and repairs at customer's site Operate both plasma and flame cutting torch Perform other duties as assigned "Must Haves" Knowledge of codes and industry standards applicable to work performed Good at establishing clear directions and lays out work in a well-planned and organized manner. Monitors process, progress and results. Be able to read and understand floor plans and work orders for projects Ability to complete material and labor take offs from blue prints required. Able to work outside in variable weather conditions Ability to use both manual and power tools Ability to use mathematics to calculate length, width, depth, etc. as it relates to construction and accuracy of specs and requirements Ability to follow written and spoken instruction Ability to safely perform tasks Maintains current certification through industry standard agency or process High school diploma or equivalent Prior experience in the construction industry performing welding and commercial welding new construction and remodel construction required "Nice to Haves" Able to read Company's construction documents and provide guidance to construction team to complete necessary work Knowledge of LEAN construction a plus
