Job Title:
Welder Job Description This role focuses on operating welding equipment to accurately bond materials according to engineering specifications and blueprints. You will set up and run welding machines, ensure weld quality meets established standards, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within a production environment. Responsibilities Operate welding machines that feed wire to bond and fuse materials safely and efficiently. Interpret and follow blueprints and production drawings to plan work and determine welding requirements. Determine appropriate welding positions and identify the type of metal to be fused for each project. Select, set up, and adjust welding equipment and tools to meet job specifications. Inspect welds and ensure all work meets quality standards, specifications, and industry requirements. Use measuring tools, such as tape measures, to verify dimensions and confirm accuracy of welded assemblies. Follow established production processes and contribute to achieving output and quality targets. Comply with all Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures. Support sustainable process outputs and participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance performance and customer satisfaction. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety guidelines and practices. Essential Skills Proficiency in welding techniques and operating welding machines in a production environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. Competence in using measuring tools, including tape measures, to verify dimensions. Basic machine operation skills related to welding and fabrication processes. Minimum of 1 year of welding experience or equivalent formal schooling in welding. Strong attention to detail to ensure weld quality and adherence to specifications. Ability to follow established procedures and quality standards. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Certificate or Associate degree in welding preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment. Comfort working with modern welding equipment and tools. Ability to work collaboratively with team members in an open, shared workspace. Work Environment The facility is newly expanded and was built in early 2019, offering a brand-new, climate-controlled, modern, and open workspace with plenty of room to work and no tight or cramped areas. Employees have access to locker bays with assigned lockers to store personal belongings. There is a new kitchen and market area where employees can purchase snacks and lunch items, as well as vending machines throughout the facility. The work environment is very clean, well-maintained, and designed for comfort and efficiency. This is a first-shift role with hours from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with mandated overtime of approximately one hour after each shift and every other Saturday. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Merrillville, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
