Fitter/Welder

General Description Layout and fit-up of steel parts from blueprints; know how to read and interrupt blueprints; must have some welding skills; know how to use a torch; must have knowledge of the trade hand tools. Responsibilities of Position Read and interrupt dimensions from traveler, blueprints and/or hand drawings. Must be able to fit-up and tack weld together steel parts to resemble said drawings. Must be able to assemble made parts to make up final designed structure. Have some knowledge of a working steel fab shop. Have some overhead crane experience. Follow weld instructions for each job. Prepare each piece before welding (grinding, cutting, pre-heating). Put down the best weld possible. Us drill, punch, and torch correctly. Finish each piece, get it checked by QC and get it to the paint shed. May be required to operate forklift. May require testing to become certified. Keep your work areas clean; sweeping up. May be required to load and unload material or help move material to and from paint shed. May be required to help bolt job together. May be asked to weld on Padgett's personal equipment. Position:

Able to follow verbal orders from supervisor, work with limited supervision. Must have experience or be training to do job. Able to read, tape, measure, and use hand tools of trade (Own or be willing to obtain). High mental and visual effort required. Good physical condition required - some lifting and outside work. Must have good work habits - be on time, do not miss work. Take pride in work, etc. Willing to work overtime and some Saturdays. Will and able to work with others. Must be able lift up to 80 pounds and 50 repetitively.
