Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and welding specifications. Ability to accurately use measuring tools and welding equipment. Experience Requirements Experience with MIG welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Ability to assemble and weld components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Experience inspecting weld quality and ensuring finished products meet production standards. Must successfully pass a welding test for hatch covers and rail car gates. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality. Preferred Qualifications AWS Welding Certification preferred or ability to pass an in-house welding certification test. Experience welding flat, vertical fillet, and lap joints on metal ranging from 7-gauge to 5/16-inch thickness. Knowledge of welding parameters, weld symbols, and fabrication standards. Experience performing basic equipment setup, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance. Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety. Physical Capabilities Ability to stand for 8 to 10 hours per shift. Regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds throughout the workday. Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive welding and assembly tasks. Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment while wearing required PPE. Job Duties Perform MIG welding, assembly, and fabrication of hatch covers, rail car gates, and related components. Set up, operate, and perform routine maintenance on welding equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate assembly. Measure and verify parts using precision measuring tools to ensure compliance with specifications. Follow established welding procedures and parameters to produce high-quality welds. Conduct visual inspections of completed welds and finished assemblies to ensure quality standards are met. Collaborate with production team members to improve workflow, efficiency, and product quality. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area while following all company safety policies.
