TIG Welder Apply now (https://jobs.laitram.com/en\_US/JobsLaitram/ApplicationMethods?jobId=8338) Location New Orleans, LA Job Category Manufacturing & Production Division Laitram Machinery Job Description (General Summary) Are you an experienced TIG Welder? Laitram Machinery is currently seeking a TIG Welder. This individual will be primarily responsible for fitting and welding stainless steel seafood processing equipment (as well as other mechanical equipment fabricated primarily from stainless steel or aluminum). Engineering drawings will be provided to guide layout, fitting and welding. For over 70 years, Laitram Machinery has pioneered the manufacturing of high-performance shrimp-peeling equipment, and more recently, steam cookers, blanchers, nut pasteurizers, roasters, and sorters. Job Responsibilities and Requirements Responsibilities:
+ Lay out, fit and weld fabricated parts to construct weldments consistent with engineering drawings; document and report issues/deviations affecting form, fit or function + Verify weldment dimensions using basic measuring tools to insure design tolerances are met + Be able to adjust welding equipment to effectively weld different types/thicknesses of material + Maintain all welding equipment and hand tools in working condition + Use computer terminal to issue materials, record/apply shop order labor and clock in/out each day
Requirements:
+ Must have a High School or vocational school diploma + Minimum 2 years TIG welding experience + Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and bill of materials + Must be a "self-managed" team player + Must be fluent in both written and spoken English + Must have basic Math skills and have the ability to accurately read/use a tape measure + Must be able to successfully use a computer to access manufacturing shop floor control system + Must be able to identify and operate basic hand tools and small power tools + Must be willing to crosstrain in other work centers if/as needed + Must have a passion for doing a job well + Able to work overtime; some limited travel may be required + Must be able to perform essential job requirements in the Functional Job Description for this position, including lifting 50 pounds EEO/Vet/Disability Notice EOE/M/F/Vet/Disabled LinkedIn Recruiter #LI-JE1
