Job Description
Basic Functions:
Under the guidance of the Welding Shop Foreman, the mechanic in the weld shop welds plate, shells, Tubes and structures to fabricate and/or repair shell and tube heat exchangers.Major Duties:
1. Welds tubes in tubesheets 2. Performs heliarc welding, submerged arc welding and manual welding on components as assigned 3. Welds tube caps with heliarc welder 4. Performs root passes tubesheets to shells 5. Performs internal quality control of welding procedures 6. Corrects welds as necessary 7. Trains (OJT) other employees as needed 8. Controls own welding supply usage 9. Other duties and welding methods as assigned 10. Performs the assigned tasks in a safe manner, avoiding all unsafe practicesQualifications:
Knowledge- High school diploma or equivalent experience; sufficient product knowledge/weld procedures Skills
- Certified welding ASME section VIII; read and write the English language; able to read and interpret drawings; experience in shop/field fabrication Working Conditions
- Cold, heat, dirty, dusty, noisy, must lift 60lbs, must be able to bend, lift, push, pull, climb, squat, crawl, work in unusual positions, exposed to fumes, normal shop hazards and standing for prolonged periods of time
