Senior Aluminum Welder / Automotive Fabricator Allen Park, MI | Long-Term Contract | $30-$55/hour DOE | Day Shift Top Gun Staffing is seeking an experienced Senior Aluminum Welder / Automotive Fabricator for a long-term opportunity supporting an advanced automotive engineering and prototype environment in the Allen Park, Michigan area. This is not a repetitive production welding role . We are looking for a highly skilled fabricator who can independently build complex automotive assemblies, prototype components, chassis structures, fixtures, and precision aluminum fabrications from engineering drawings. The strongest candidates will have hands-on experience with aluminum TIG/MIG welding, automotive or prototype fabrication, custom fixtures and jigs, blueprint interpretation, GD&T, and precision measurement.

ASAP Key Responsibilities Fabricate complex automotive assemblies, prototypes, chassis components, brackets, frames, and custom structures Perform high-quality TIG and MIG welding on aluminum Active AWS Certifications Weld both structural components and thin-gauge aluminum Control heat input to minimize distortion and warping Read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and GD&T requirements Build and modify custom fixtures, jigs, and holding devices Perform precision layout and dimensional inspection Use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, surface plates, and related inspection equipment Support first-article inspection and quality verification Operate fabrication equipment such as press brakes, shears, tube benders, plasma tables, and waterjet equipment Troubleshoot fabrication and fitment problems independently Work closely with engineering teams on prototype and manufacturing issues Recommend fabrication and process improvements Mentor less-experienced welders and fabricators when needed Maintain high cosmetic and structural quality standards Desired Background 5-10+ years of advanced welding/fabrication experience Strong aluminum fabrication experience Advanced TIG/GTAW and

welding skills Automotive prototype, motorsports, aerospace, chassis fabrication, vehicle development, or other high-precision fabrication experience preferred Ability to fabricate from engineering drawings rather than only repetitive production work Strong blueprint and GD&T knowledge Experience building or modifying custom fixtures and jigs Strong precision-measurement and inspection skills First-article inspection experience is a plus Familiarity with weld inspection or NDT methods is beneficial AWS aluminum welding certifications are a plus Ability to work independently and solve complex fabrication problems Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who can be given an engineering drawing or prototype concept and determine how to fixture it, fabricate it, weld it, inspect it, and deliver a precision finished assembly . Candidates with backgrounds in automotive prototypes, custom chassis fabrication, motorsports, aerospace aluminum fabrication, or advanced vehicle development are especially encouraged to apply. Compensation $30-$55/hour depending on experience. Candidates with advanced aluminum welding, prototype fabrication, fixture-building, GD&T, and high-precision automotive or aerospace experience may be considered at the upper end of the range.
