Job Description
Overview We are seeking a skilled Spot Welder/Resistant Welder to join our manufacturing team. This position involves performing precise resistance welding operations to assemble and fabricate metal components according to technical specifications and blueprints. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, extensive shop fabrication experience, and a thorough understanding of welding techniques and safety protocols. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality metal fabrication projects within a dynamic production environment. Responsibilities Operate resistance welding equipment, including spot welders, to join sheet metal and other metal materials efficiently and accurately. Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to ensure proper assembly and fabrication. Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math skills to verify dimensions and tolerances. Prepare materials using hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and rigging equipment for welding operations. Maintain compliance with American Welding Society (AWS) standards and safety protocols throughout all tasks. Conduct quality inspections of welds using calipers, measuring instruments, and visual assessments to ensure adherence to specifications. Collaborate with team members on fabrication projects involving sheet metal fabrication, mechanical assembly, and pipe threading. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety guidelines at all times. Qualifications Proven experience in construction site environments or manufacturing facilities involving metal fabrication. Familiarity with welding techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and resistance spot welding. Knowledge of blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings related to mechanical fabrication. Proficiency with measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and shop math for precise measurements. Mechanical knowledge of tools, power tools, rigging, pipe threading, machining, and plasma cutting processes. Strong understanding of safety procedures related to welding operations and manufacturing environments. Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and technical specifications accurately. Experience with fabrication shop practices including assembly, sheet metal fabrication, and use of hand tools. Basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations during fabrication tasks. Certification or training in AWS standards is preferred but not mandatory.
