This hands-on position is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating orbital welding equipment to produce high-quality welds on stainless steel tubing and piping systems. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, takes pride in precision workmanship, and is comfortable working in a quality-driven fabrication environment. Key Responsibilities Set up, program, and operate orbital welding equipment to produce high-quality stainless steel tube and pipe welds. Prepare tubing, fittings, ferrules, and other components for orbital welding. Cut, face, deburr, clean, and properly align tubing and fittings prior to welding. Select and verify appropriate weld programs and parameters based on tube size, wall thickness, material, and project requirements. Install and properly position orbital weld heads on tube and fitting assemblies. Set up and monitor shielding and purge gas during the welding process. Inspect welds for proper penetration, alignment, discoloration, contamination, and other potential defects. Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, weld maps, specifications, and work instructions. Use measuring devices to verify dimensions, fit-up, alignment, and component placement. Follow established weld procedures, specifications, and customer requirements. Perform required quality checks and accurately document completed welds. Maintain weld traceability and production documentation when required. Identify and report weld defects, equipment issues, material problems, and other nonconforming conditions. Troubleshoot orbital welding equipment and welding-related issues. Perform routine inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of orbital weld heads and equipment. Verify welding equipment and instruments are in proper working condition before use. Work closely with manual TIG welders, fabricators, quality personnel, and project management to meet production requirements. Maintain a clean and organized welding area and protect stainless steel materials from contamination. Follow all company safety procedures and use required PPE. Assist with other fabrication and production responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous orbital welding, TIG welding, tube fabrication, or pipe fabrication experience is preferred. Proficiency with orbital welding equipment and processes is a plus. Experience working with stainless steel tubing and piping is preferred. Experience with sanitary or high-purity tube fabrication is a plus. Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, weld maps, and welding specifications. Ability to use basic measuring devices and fabrication tools. Basic understanding of welding symbols and weld terminology. Understanding of shielding gas and purge gas requirements is preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality welds. Basic math skills and ability to work with fractions and decimals. Ability to follow established welding procedures and work instructions. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Willingness to learn and cross-train in additional fabrication processes. Working Conditions Fast-paced, non-climate-controlled manufacturing and fabrication environment. Extended standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting. Work with stainless steel tube, pipe, fittings, and fabrication equipment. Exposure to welding arc, manufacturing noise, shielding gases, and varying temperatures. Regular use of required welding and safety PPE. Work may require positioning components and equipment in various orientations. Strong emphasis on maintaining cleanliness and preventing contamination of stainless steel materials.

Pay:
$20.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
