Job Title:
TIG Welder Job Description This role focuses on fabricating and TIG welding stainless steel conveyor systems from scratch in a busy manufacturing shop. You read and interpret blueprints, identify weld symbols and callouts, and prepare raw materials and layouts before welding. While most work involves stainless steel TIG welding, you occasionally perform MIG welding on mild steel to support production needs. Responsibilities Fabricate stainless steel conveyor systems from raw materials using TIG welding techniques. Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and callouts to ensure accurate fabrication from scratch. Cut and prepare raw materials according to specifications before starting the welding process. Perform layout work and assemble components prior to welding to ensure proper fit and alignment. Execute high-quality TIG welds on stainless steel components (approximately 90% of welding tasks). Perform MIG welding on mild steel components as needed (approximately 10% of welding tasks). Inspect completed welds and fabricated assemblies to verify quality and adherence to design specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work area, following shop procedures and safety practices. Collaborate with team members and adjust to changing workloads as shop demand fluctuates. Essential Skills Hands-on TIG welding experience, particularly with stainless steel materials. Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately for fabrication and welding work. Understanding of weld symbols and callouts used in fabrication drawings. Proficiency in cutting and preparing raw materials for welding and assembly. Experience performing layout work for conveyor systems or similar fabricated structures. Capability to perform MIG welding on mild steel when required. Strong attention to detail to ensure precise fabrication and high-quality welds. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with stainless steel conveyor systems or equipment used in food-related environments. Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication shop setting. Familiarity with fabricating components for conveyor or material-handling systems. Ability to adapt to varying workloads and changing priorities in a production environment. Why Work Here? Work is typically performed on a contract basis, with the possibility of being hired on after the contract depending on performance and organizational needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
