Job Description
Job description This position is responsible for using heat and electricity to weld and unite metal parts for construction and manufacturing of stainless steel storage tanks. The Welder/Fitter is a crucial position in the manufacturing process and is therefore expected to produce high-quality work while keeping to production timelines. Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux, according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits Connect and turn regulator vales to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure so that desired flames are obtained Other duties as assigned Our core values are the cornerstone on which we build our business, a belief that doesn't change. - Proficient in mig welding and hard wire flex core
- Must be able to pass mig weld testing
- Must be able to read a tape measure and understand measurements
- Must be able to recognize basic weld symbols on a drawing
- Problem Solving/ Analysis
- Structural and/or equivalent finite element analysis software
- Experience in working with multiple discipline projects
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite
- Ability to write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to read technical drawings and plans as instruction
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel
- Working knowledge and experience as a welder using multiple processes
- Working knowledge of the basic properties of metal
- Certificate indicating proficiency in the art of welding preferred, but not required
- Broad knowledge of warehouse safety protocols
- Ability to work overtime as needed to include additional hours per day or additional days per work week
- Ability to work in a not climate controlled environment
- Must comply with Personal Protective Equipment guidelines to include but not limited to hardhat, steel toed shoes, uniform, gloves, safety glasses, masks (as required), etc.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds individually, team lifting/mechanical techniques for any work processes that exceed 51 pounds
- Must be able to work in a noisy work environment (hearing protection available)
