Job Description Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Stick (SMAW) Welder for a Direct Hire opportunity with a reputable industrial client. This role involves welding in piping, structural, and industrial environments while maintaining high safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Perform Stick (Arc / SMAW) welding on piping, structural steel, and industrial components Weld in multiple positions including vertical, horizontal, and overhead Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding symbols Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, and cleaning surfaces Inspect welds for strength, quality, and compliance Follow all safety policies and procedures Required Qualifications Minimum 2 years of hands-on Stick (Arc / SMAW), MIG, and FCAW welding experience Experience welding in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions Experience in piping, structural, and industrial welding environments MUST have a clean driving record and ability to obtain a Class E driver's license within 30 days of hire date Willingness to travel 20-30% (mostly scheduled and in the Midwest) Ability to work independently and as part of a team Preferred Qualifications Welding certification (AWS or equivalent) in MIG, Stick (SMAW), and FCAW Plant shutdown and start-up experience Industrial maintenance experience with mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical experience Experience with carbon steel and stainless steel Why Work with Express?
