Monday through Friday Start time: 6:00 AM Typical finish time: approximately 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM Mandatory overtime may be required based on production demands Saturday work may be required as needed Candidates must have flexibility with their end time since production demands may determine when the workday is completed. A Confidential Company in Archdale, NC is seeking 2 experienced Carbon Steel MIG Welders for Contract to Hire opportunities. This position is for experienced welders who can do more than simply run a weld bead. Candidates must be able to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols, take accurate measurements, fit components, prepare material, and produce quality MIG welds on carbon steel. This is NOT a training opportunity. Only candidates with relevant hands on MIG welding and fabrication experience will be considered. The primary material is basic carbon steel. Welders must be comfortable working from drawings, measurements, welding symbols, and specifications to complete fabrication work accurately.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform MIG welding on carbon steel components and assemblies Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, work orders, measurements, dimensions, and specifications Fit and assemble components prior to welding Weld carbon steel ranging from approximately 18 gauge material through 1/4 inch plate Produce consistent welds with appropriate penetration, appearance, and overall quality Prepare materials through cutting, grinding, fitting, and other fabrication processes Use tape measures, protractors, calipers, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment Measure and verify components before and during fabrication Perform visual inspections of completed welds and identify weld defects or quality concerns Troubleshoot fabrication and fit up issues as they arise Follow company quality standards and production requirements Maintain a safe and organized work area Work independently when required while also collaborating effectively with the fabrication team
Requirements:
Previous hands on MIG welding experience with carbon steel is required Must be able to independently read and interpret blueprints Must understand welding symbols and be able to apply them during fabrication Previous fitting and metal fabrication experience is required Must be comfortable welding material ranging from approximately 18 gauge through 1/4 inch plate Must be able to accurately use a tape measure and basic precision measuring tools Experience with calipers, protractors, grinders, hand tools, and other fabrication equipment is strongly preferred Must possess basic shop math skills Must be able to convert feet to inches and inches to feet Must be comfortable working with fractions and converting fractions to decimals Must be able to lift materials weighing up to 80 pounds Must be able to bend, twist, stoop, reach, stand, and move throughout the work shift Must be comfortable working in a non climate controlled manufacturing environment Must be available for mandatory overtime and Saturdays when required Must pass a welding test prior to placement Candidates completing the weld test should be prepared to bring the required welding equipment, including a welding shield, hammer, and vice grips No entry level candidates or candidates requiring basic welding training will be considered
Additional Details:
This is a Contract to Hire opportunity. Candidates who successfully complete the contract period and meet the company's expectations for attendance, performance, safety, and weld quality may be considered for permanent employment. Benefits are available after successful conversion to permanent employment with the hiring company. The facility is non climate controlled, so candidates must be comfortable working in varying seasonal temperatures. This opportunity is best suited for an experienced MIG welder who already knows how to take a fabrication project from a blueprint through fitting, welding, and final inspection.
