Job Description

Job Title:
Welder Job Description This role offers the opportunity to apply your welding and metal fabrication skills every day in a modern production environment. You will work on a wide variety of products, including tillage equipment, storage tanks, fertilizer spreaders, HVAC equipment for ethanol plants, and other custom metal products. Because the product mix changes regularly, you can expect variety in your work from week to week while contributing to high-quality, large-scale fabrication projects. Responsibilities Perform MIG welding on agricultural and custom metal equipment using wire feed processes. Interpret and work from blueprints and layout drawings to accurately fabricate products. Collaborate with other welders and team leads to complete projects efficiently and on schedule. Fabricate components and clean up welds using grinders and other fabrication tools. Operate overhead cranes as needed to safely move and position products and materials. Communicate with other departments to maintain smooth and efficient product flow through the facility. Assist with training and mentoring new hires once you are comfortable in the role. Use hand tools, tape measures, and fabrication equipment such as press brakes as required for production. Set up and adjust welding machines to achieve proper weld quality and consistency. Follow shop safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area. Essential Skills Prior welding experience or formal welding education. Proficiency with MIG welding and wire feed welding processes. Ability to set up and adjust welding machines for different materials and thicknesses. Experience using grinders and other basic fabrication tools to clean and finish welds. Ability to read a tape measure accurately and work to specified dimensions. Comfort working with agricultural and structural metal components in a production setting. Capability to use common hand tools safely and effectively. Willingness to work Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with regular opportunities for overtime. Additional Skills & Qualifications Blueprint reading and layout experience is a strong plus and preferred, but not mandatory. Experience with metal fabrication, including sheet metal and structural components. Background or familiarity with agricultural equipment or farming environments. Exposure to press brake operation and other fabrication machinery. Experience using Miller, Lincoln Electric, ESAB, or Fronius welding equipment. Knowledge of flux core welding processes. Experience gained through shop class or vocational training in welding or metal fabrication. Why Work Here? You will join a team working in a modern, nearly new facility that combines the comfort of an updated shop with the close-knit feel of a smaller operation. The environment is laid back, supportive, and collaborative, with coworkers who are willing to help each other succeed. Most welders appreciate the constant variety of projects, which keeps the work engaging and allows you to continually develop your skills. Steady workload and regular overtime opportunities provide consistent hours and the chance to grow your experience on diverse, large-scale fabrication projects. Work Environment The role is based in a production shop that is approximately two years old, offering a clean, modern, and well-organized workspace. The atmosphere is laid back and team-oriented, with employees who are generally very helpful and cooperative. The facility maintains a comfortable temperature, even during hot weeks, making it easier to focus on quality work. You will work primarily Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional half-day Fridays and a typical workload of around 50 hours per week during busy periods. The shop uses a range of welding equipment, including wire feed MIG welders and brands such as Miller, Lincoln Electric, ESAB, and Fronius, along with overhead cranes, grinders, press brakes, and other standard fabrication tools.
