Job Description

Shape steel. Set standards. Imagine receiving a set of drawings for a large cone assembly. You map the layout, measure angles and lengths, prep your jigs, and configure your automated weld parameters. You drop into position for internal seams, execute clean passes, then grind to spec. You surface‑prep a forging's interior so a stainless‑steel layer will bond seamlessly. You verify results against engineering specifications—and when it's ready to ship, you prepare the crate, label every detail, and close the loop. That's a typical build for our Precision Welder/Fabricator in Newington, NH. This is a 100% onsite position reporting to the Fabrication Supervisor. Impact you'll make Translate blueprints/engineering drawings into accurate fit‑ups and welds. Perform internal seam welding inside large components with strong positional technique. Grind welds to engineering finish; grind interiors of large forgings to enable stainless overlay. Set up and monitor automated welding for interior and exterior seams. Deburr edges and machined surfaces using small powered hand tools. Cut and manually fabricate conduit and instrument panel housings on large metal cones. Lay out cylinders, plate, and cones to exact dimensions and angles per spec. Use overhead lifts safely per contract guidelines. Complete required training; then prove capability in SMAW on stainless/carbon plate, GTAW on stainless/carbon, and multiple thermal cutting/heating processes. Perform testing operations per engineering specifications to validate quality.
Prepare shipments:

What you need to succeed High school diploma or equivalent. 3 years of fabrication experience, or 1+ year as a Westinghouse Newington Fabrication Mechanic II. Working knowledge of drawings, weld symbols, welding procedures, and dimensional requirements. Experience reading blueprints, sketches, or building plans; proven layout work on large and small builds. Qualified and proficient in all positions on carbon and stainless using two welding processes. Proficient in plasma cutting, carbon arc, oxy‑acetylene burning/cutting, and grinding.
