Job Description
Position Summary:
Marcal is seeking a skilled Welder to join our dynamic team.Job description:
The Maintenance Welder is responsible for performing welding and fabrication tasks in support of the maintenance and repair of equipment and infrastructure throughout the paper mill. This position ensures the safe and efficient operation of machinery by fabricating, modifying, or repairing components according to mill standards and safety protocols.Key Responsibilities:
Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding on a variety of industrial equipment, including piping, conveyors, chutes, tanks, and structural supports. Fabricate custom components from blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions. Repair worn or damaged parts on pulping, paper machine, and converting equipment. Cut materials using oxy-fuel torches, plasma cutters, and other cutting tools. Operate grinders, drill presses, and other fabrication shop equipment. Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to prioritize repair needs. Conduct preventive maintenance tasks involving welding and metal fabrication. Maintain welding equipment and ensure compliance with safety procedures and PPE requirements. Complete work orders and documentation accurately and on time.Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Vocational training or certification in welding from an accredited program preferred. Minimum of 3 years of industrial welding experience, preferably in a manufacturing or paper mill environment. Proficient in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols. Familiarity with safety regulations and welding codes (AWS, OSHA). Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in hot or dusty environments. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work on rotating shifts or during scheduled outages as needed.Work Environment:
This position operates in a heavy industrial setting with exposure to loud noise, heat, moving equipment, and potentially hazardous materials. Safety and adherence to mill policies are critical at all times.Job Type:
