This is a skilled work involving responsibility for efficient and workmanlike performance of a variety of welding tasks requiring a thorough knowledge of the trade. General instructions are received regarding tasks to be performed permitting considerable leeway for planning the details of each assignment. Immediate supervision may be exercised over the work of helpers or Laborers.

Works as a skilled craft worker in welding, brazing, cutting or heating operations entailing the use of acetylene and electric equipment; Performs welding repairs on high-pressure boilers; Welds bumpers, fenders, motor and gear casing; Repairs broken casting; Reinforces weak spots in machinery and apparatus; Builds up worn shafting teeth, sprockets and other machine parts; Welds chains; Welds gasoline tanks, tool houses, bridges, platforms and machinery; Drives truck with equipment; Cares for tools and supplies.

One year of full-time paid experience at the skilled craft worker level as a welder.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Possession of a current New York State Driver's License.
