Job Description

1st Shift Welder -
Heavy Manufacturing Pay:
$25-$27 per hour, based on experience

Full-time, hourly, non-exempt Achilles is recruiting an experienced Welder for an established American foundry operation. This is a hands-on welding role in a heavy manufacturing environment. We are looking for someone with strong welding fundamentals who can produce clean, consistent welds, work from drawings and instructions, and safely prepare and finish metal components. Foundry experience is helpful, but direct foundry or cast iron welding experience is not required for a strong welder who is comfortable working in a heavy industrial environment. What You'll Do Perform welding and repair work on metal components Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols Prepare materials and surfaces for welding using grinders, torches, saws, and other tools Fit, align, clamp, and position components prior to welding Weld in multiple positions, including flat, vertical, and overhead Grind and finish completed welds as needed Inspect welds for quality, accuracy, and defects Identify and report defective materials or completed work Maintain welding equipment and work areas Follow all plant safety procedures and quality standards Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications At least 18 years of age High school diploma or GED Previous professional welding experience Ability to produce consistent, quality welds Ability to read and follow work instructions, drawings, and welding symbols Comfortable using welding equipment, grinders, torches, and other fabrication tools Willing and able to work in a foundry and heavy manufacturing environment Strong attention to safety and quality Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of professional welding experience Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, foundry, steel, or other heavy industrial environments Experience welding cast iron or performing weld repair Welding certifications Work Environment and Physical Requirements This is a hands-on position in a foundry and heavy manufacturing environment.
Candidates should be prepared to:
Work around heat, noise, dust, and industrial equipment Work in varying temperatures and conditions Stand and work on their feet for extended periods Use their hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, position, and assemble materials Perform work requiring manual dexterity and coordinated hand movements Visually inspect welds and finished work for quality This description is not intended to include every responsibility, qualification, or physical requirement associated with the position.
