In this role, you will be responsible for performing precise tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding on various metal materials, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and adherence to safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in metal fabrication, blueprint interpretation, and welding techniques, contributing to the production of durable and accurate components. Duties Execute TIG welding on diverse metal materials, including sheet metal and structural components, following detailed blueprints and technical drawings. Interpret mechanical blueprints and fabrication shop drawings accurately to guide welding and assembly processes. Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math skills to verify dimensions and ensure precision. Operate hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment to prepare materials for welding. Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, including proper handling of welding gases and equipment, to ensure a safe work environment. Fabricate components by cutting, shaping, and assembling parts according to specifications using welding techniques such as FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and gas metal arc welding. Inspect completed welds for quality using visual assessments and measuring instruments; perform touch-ups or repairs as necessary. Collaborate with team members on assembly tasks, ensuring timely completion of projects while maintaining high standards of quality. Keep detailed records of work performed, including measurements, weld types, and inspection results. Follow all company safety policies and procedures diligently to promote a secure working environment. Experience Proven experience in construction site environments or fabrication shops with a strong understanding of metalworking processes. Demonstrated proficiency in various welding techniques including TIG, MIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding. Familiarity with interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical schematics. Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers accurately. Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication shop operations, machining, plasma cutting, and assembly processes. Experience working with sheet metal fabrication and understanding of American Welding Society (AWS) standards. Strong shop math skills combined with basic math competency necessary for precise measurements. Knowledge of safety protocols specific to welding environments and construction sites. Prior experience with mechanical fabrication projects involving metal materials is highly desirable.
