Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced GMAW (MIG) Pipe Welder to join a fabrication team supporting the fire sprinkler industry. This is a production-focused welding position involving carbon steel pipe and fittings. Most production welding is completed using automated or semi-automated equipment; however, candidates must have hands-on MIG welding experience to recognize weld quality requirements, identify defects, and perform repairs when needed. Quality, safety, productivity, and attention to detail are critical in this fast-paced fabrication environment. Key Responsibilities Weld carbon steel outlets onto steel pipe for fire sprinkler applications. Operate automated and semi-automated welding equipment. Perform manual GMAW (MIG) welding on carbon steel pipe and fabricated assemblies.
Perform specialty welding tasks involving:
Spool pieces Flanges Related fabricated components Inspect completed welds for: Weld defects Proper dimensions Alignment End preparation Pipe seam splits Repair weld discontinuities and failed welds as required. Read and follow production paperwork and work instructions. Use tape measures and basic measuring tools to verify dimensions. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe welding station. Report equipment problems, repair needs, and safety concerns. Meet established quality and productivity standards. Required Qualifications Minimum 1 year of
MIG/GMAW
welding experience. Minimum 1 year of machine operation experience. Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure. Ability to work safely in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Basic computer skills. Good communication skills. Positive, team-oriented attitude. Preferred Qualifications Experience welding carbon steel pipe. Pipe fabrication experience. Fire sprinkler industry experience. Experience with outlet welding. Experience with spool and flange fabrication. Ability to identify weld defects and perform weld repairs. Welding Test Required Candidates must complete a hands-on weld test during the interview. The test will require the candidate to: Weld 1-inch outlets onto 2-inch steel pipe. Use the GMAW (MIG) welding process. Pass a visual inspection of the completed weld.
