Job Description

Build it, fix it, move on to the next one. Cardinal Group runs the fabrication shop supporting one of Ohio's largest automotive manufacturing plants. This isn't production welding — you're not making the same bracket 400 times. Work comes in by purchase order, so every job is different: carts, racks, guards, dunnage, fixtures, conveyor repairs, whatever the plant needs built or brought back to life.

If you'd rather read a sketch and figure out how to build it than run the same weld all day, this is the shop for you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Fabricate and repair equipment from blueprints, sketches, or a walk-out with the customer MIG welding as your primary process; TIG and stick as the job calls for Layout, measure, cut, and fit up before you burn — mild steel, stainless, and aluminum Run shop equipment: band saw, chop saw, drill press, plasma cutter, torch, grinders Handle in-plant repair work outside the cage when something breaks and can't come to you Inspect your own work and stand behind the quality Follow hot work permit, LOTO, fire watch, and PPE requirements every time
WHAT YOU NEED
No welding or fabrication experience required, we will train you! Able to read blueprints and hand sketches, and do tape measure math Able to pass a hands-on weld test Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, bending, and working in awkward positions All PPE including a welding hood, gloves, and uniforms are provided for you Willing to complete a background check and drug screen High school diploma or GED preferred; trade school or welding certificate a plus
WHAT YOU GET
$18.00 to $21.00 per hour, based on experience Overtime available Indoor shop work — no field travel, no per diem, home every night Day shift, Monday through Friday with a steady schedule Medical, dental, and vision insurance Health Savings Account (HSA) 401(k) with company match Company-paid life insurance Paid time off Real variety in the work, and a say in how the job gets built
