Job Title:
Welder Job Description We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our team in Youngstown, OH. This position requires expertise in welding structural steel components and counterweights, with a focus on quality and safety. Responsibilities Perform welding on structural steel components and counterweights using appropriate welding processes. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine weld specifications and requirements. Set up and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently. Prepare materials for welding, including cleaning, cutting, and positioning components. Inspect welds to ensure conformance with quality and dimensional standards. Use measuring tools and gauges to verify accuracy and alignment of welded components. Identify weld defects and perform necessary repairs or adjustments. Maintain consistent weld quality and productivity to meet production targets. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with standard housekeeping practices. Assist with material handling using appropriate equipment (e.g., hoists, cranes, forklifts if certified). Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to resolve production issues. Monitor equipment condition and report maintenance needs or safety concerns. Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance quality, efficiency, and safety. Perform additional duties as assigned. Essential Skills 1-2 years of experience in welding, structural steel fabrication, or a similar industrial environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings. Proficiency with common welding processes such as MIG, Flux-Cored, or Stick welding. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to safely operate welding equipment and follow safety procedures. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50-70 lbs) as required. Ability to stand, bend, and perform physical work for extended periods. Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (heat, noise, etc.). Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience welding large structural components or heavy steel assemblies. Familiarity with fabrication equipment such as cutting torches and grinders. Experience working with overhead cranes or material handling equipment. Knowledge of weld inspection standards and procedures. Previous experience in a high-volume production setting. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work is performed in a manufacturing plant with shifts available: 1st Shift from 6:30am to 2:30pm, 2nd Shift from 2:30pm to 10:30pm, and 3rd Shift from 10:30pm to 6:30am starting Sunday night. Overtime is available and voluntary. Employees are required to adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Youngstown, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
