Full-Time Job Order #: 151138 Position Overview Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Fitter / Welder for a busy fabrication operation in Broken Arrow. This position requires strong fitting, blueprint-reading, and welding skills to assemble and weld structural or vessel components according to drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate has extensive Fitter/Welder experience and can confidently work from blueprints and weld symbols, fit components accurately, and produce quality welds using MIG and Flux Core processes. Candidates must successfully complete a 3G weld test on 1/2-inch plate using a downhill MIG stringer with an uphill Flux Core fill and cap. Required Experience & Skills
  • Fitter/Welder experience required; 5+ years preferred
  • MIG welding experience required
  • Flux Core welding experience required
  • Strong fitting and fabrication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Ability to understand weld symbols
  • Experience fitting structural or vessel components
  • Ability to accurately position and assemble fabricated components
  • Strong measurement and layout skills
  • Ability to successfully complete the required 3G weld test
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work the full production schedule
  • Strong commitment to workplace and welding safety Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret fabrication blueprints and drawings
  • Follow applicable weld symbols and specifications
  • Measure and lay out materials for fabrication
  • Fit and assemble structural or vessel components
  • Position and align components before welding
  • Verify dimensions and fit-up before completing welds
  • Tack components into position as required
  • Perform MIG welding
  • Perform Flux Core welding
  • Complete structural and vessel fabrication according to production requirements
  • Inspect completed work for visible quality concerns
  • Identify and correct fit-up or welding issues
  • Maintain accurate dimensions and alignment throughout fabrication
  • Operate grinders and other fabrication tools as required
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
  • Follow all company safety and production procedures
  • Perform additional fitting, welding, and fabrication duties as assigned Fitting & Fabrication Responsibilities Candidates should be comfortable independently performing:
  • Blueprint interpretation
  • Weld symbol interpretation
  • Material layout
  • Measuring and marking
  • Structural fit-up
  • Vessel component fit-up
  • Component positioning
  • Alignment and squaring
  • Tack welding
  • Dimensional verification
  • Preparation for final welding Strong fitting ability is essential for this position. Welding Responsibilities Candidates will perform welding using:
  • MIG
  • Flux Core
  • Downhill MIG techniques
  • Uphill Flux Core techniques
  • 3G-position welding
  • Carbon steel fabrication processes as applicable Welders must maintain consistent workmanship while meeting applicable production and quality requirements. Weld Test Requirements Candidates must successfully complete:
  • 3G Position
  • 1/2-inch Plate
  • Downhill MIG Stringer
  • Uphill Flux Core Fill & Cap Candidates should arrive prepared to demonstrate both fitting knowledge and production-level welding ability. Blueprint & Weld Symbol Requirements
  • Read fabrication blueprints independently
  • Interpret weld symbols
  • Identify required dimensions and component locations
  • Determine proper fit-up and orientation
  • Follow applicable welding requirements
  • Verify assemblies against drawings before final welding
  • Identify discrepancies before components move further into production Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Fitter/Welder experience
  • Structural fabrication experience
  • Pressure vessel or vessel fabrication experience
  • Advanced MIG welding experience
  • Advanced Flux Core welding experience
  • Previous 3G welding experience
  • Strong blueprint-reading ability
  • Weld symbol knowledge
  • Advanced fitting and layout experience
  • Heavy industrial fabrication experience Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, carrying, positioning, pushing, and pulling
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for fitting and welding
  • Ability to safely handle fabricated steel components
  • Ability to safely operate welding equipment, grinders, and fabrication tools
  • Comfortable performing physically demanding fabrication work throughout extended shifts
  • Ability to safely wear all required PPE Work Environment
  • Industrial welding and fabrication environment
  • Regular work around structural and vessel components, welding machines, grinders, and fabrication equipment
  • Hands-on position requiring blueprint reading, fitting, tack-up, and final welding
  • Quality-focused environment requiring accurate dimensions and consistent weld workmanship
  • Extended weekday schedule with Saturday hours
