Modern Industries, Inc. - Heat Treat Division, Erie, Pennsylvania Position Summary The Welder is responsible for the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of fixtures, baskets, racks, tooling, and production-related equipment used in heat treating operations. This position requires proficiency in welding various metals, interpreting blueprints and drawings, and supporting production requirements in a safe and efficient manner. The Welder plays a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, product quality, and on-time customer delivery. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform MIG, TIG, Stick, and other welding processes as required.
Fabricate, repair, and modify heat treat fixtures, baskets, racks, furnace components, and tooling.
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and work instructions.
Measure, cut, fit, and assemble metal components to required specifications.
Repair cracks, wear damage, and distortion on production fixtures and tooling.
Operate welding, cutting, grinding, drilling, and fabrication equipment safely.
Assist with preventative maintenance and repair of heat treat equipment when required.
Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Maintain accurate records of repairs and fabrication work performed.
Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies.
Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with housekeeping standards.
Collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering, and quality personnel to resolve equipment and tooling issues.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and cost reductio.
Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED required.
Technical training, welding certification, or vocational education preferred. Experience Minimum of 1-2 years of welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Experience with industrial maintenance, fixture fabrication, and repair is a plus.
Experience working with heat-resistant alloys and stainless steels preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Stick Welding Techniques.
Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
