Job Description

Job Overview:
This position is responsible for the SAFE layout, fitting, tack welding, grinding, and properly tagging of products being produced in the fabrication department, ensuring components are accurately aligned and prepared to specification prior to final welding.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints to determine layout, assembly sequence, and dimensional requirements
  • Measuring, marking, and laying out material using squares, tape measures, levels, and other layout tools
  • Fitting, aligning, and clamping parts and assemblies to drawing specifications and tolerances
  • Tack welding components to hold fit-up in place prior to final welding
  • Grinding, cleaning, and truing up parts and joints to prepare for welding
  • Properly tagging completed work with required information
  • Follow all SOP's and JSA's
  • Operation of forklifts and hoists
  • Checking quality of work to drawings / specification and part quantity
  • Other task as instructed by supervision
Qualifications:
Education:
Highschool or GED, Vo-Tech/Trade School (preferred)
Experience:
1-2 Years industrial/manufacturing environment; prior fitting or fabrication experience preferred
Specific Skills:
Blueprint/drawing reading, layout, fitting and fit-up, tack welding, Forklift (preferred)
Certifications:
Physical Abilities:
Standing/Bending full shift, lifting up to 50lbs, exposure to loud noises may require hearing protection, Exposure to chemicals and fumes may require use of respirator, various sheet metal products may require specific PPE protection, communication with others, some repetitive motion
Pay:
From $21.00 per hour
