Job description: Superior Skilled Trades is seeking Shop Welders/Fabricators for an immediate start in Quakertown, PA
WEEKLY PAY
Temp-to-Hire PAY:
$20•33/hour (based upon experience and classification•AWS Certification)
Welder I:
$20•$24/hr
Welder II:
$24•$28/hr
Welder III:
$28•$33/hr
HOURS:
10-hour workdays, 4 days per week

Temp-to-Hire Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Shop Welder/Fabricator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and operational testing of custom equipment and machinery. You will work with a variety of tools, equipment, and welding processes to produce high-quality components that meet engineering specifications. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read blueprints, and a commitment to precision, quality, and safety. The role primarily involves MIG welding in a shop environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings, erection drawings, and weld symbols Layout, fit, and fabricate structural steel components, including beams, columns, braces, sheet metal, and panels Perform bridge welding in accordance with applicable codes Take accurate measurements and perform layout/marking using tapes, squares, levels, and layout tools Assemble components using clamps, fixtures, and jigs while maintaining dimensional tolerances Welding & Cutting Perform MIG welding in accordance with shop drawings and specifications Execute thermal cutting and grinding as required Maintain weld quality and appearance to meet visual and dimensional inspection standards Identify and correct weld defects as needed Quality & Documentation Fabricate in accordance with AISC Quality Management System requirements Verify material heat numbers, piece marks, and orientation Perform self-inspections and correct issues prior to QC review Report discrepancies in drawings or materials to supervision Safety & Teamwork Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations Properly use PPE and adhere to lockout/tagout and rigging procedures Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Collaborate with foremen, welders, fitters, and QC personnel
Qualifications:
Welder I Entry-level structural welding/fabrication experience Ability to perform basic MIG welding and shop tasks Ability to read basic shop drawings preferred Welder II At least 2+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication, bridge welding, and sheet metal welding Must have at least ONE of the following certifications:
AWS D1.1
•Structural Steel
AWS D1.3
•Sheet Steel
AWS D1.5
•Bridge Welding Code Strong ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings and weld symbols Proficiency in layout, fitting, and fabrication of structural steel Hands-on MIG welding experience Experience operating overhead cranes Welder III 5+ years of advanced structural steel fabrication and bridge welding experience Several of the following certifications preferred:
AWS D1.1
•Structural Steel
AWS D1.3
•Sheet Steel
AWS D1.5
•Bridge Welding Code Full understanding of welding complex assemblies, including structural wall systems Advanced blueprint reading, layout, fitting, and fabrication expertise Ability to mentor lower-level welders and lead complex builds Strong quality control awareness and inspection capability
Preferred Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent 2-5 years of machine fabrication experience or combination of education and experience Experience with sheet metal, structural steel, and bridge welding Welding certification preferred
Additional Requirements:
Must be eligible to work in the United States Must have reliable transportation to the job site Pre-employment drug screen and background check required
