Structural / Miscellaneous Steel Fabricator - Fitter/Welder Greco Steel Products, Inc. - Springdale, PA Full-Time Opportunity Greco Steel Products is looking for an experienced Structural / Miscellaneous Steel Fabricator (Fitter/Welder) to join our fabrication team at our headquarters in Springdale, Pennsylvania, just outside Pittsburgh. What You'll Do As a Structural / Miscellaneous Steel Fabricator, you'll be responsible for interpreting fabrication drawings and using them to accurately lay out, fit, fabricate, assemble, and weld structural and miscellaneous steel components.
Your responsibilities will include:
Read and interpret detailed structural and miscellaneous steel shop drawings, blueprints, and technical drawings Lay out, measure, fit, and assemble steel components according to approved drawings and specifications Fabricate structural steel components including beams, columns, angles, channels, plates, and other assemblies Fabricate miscellaneous steel including stairs, railings, ladders, frames, supports, and other custom steel components Measure, cut, drill, cope, grind, shape, and prepare steel for fit-up and welding Accurately verify dimensions, hole locations, orientation, squareness, and overall fit-up before final welding Perform structural welding using applicable processes, including FCAW, GMAW/MIG, and SMAW, in accordance with approved welding procedures and AWS requirements Use tape measures, squares, levels, layout tools, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure accurate fabrication Safely operate fabrication equipment, power tools, hand tools, grinders, drills, saws, and plasma-cutting equipment Use overhead cranes and other material-handling equipment to safely position and move structural steel components Perform visual checks of completed work and identify fabrication or drawing issues before material moves to the next stage of production Follow company quality-control procedures, welding procedures, and fabrication standards Communicate drawing discrepancies, missing information, or fabrication concerns to the appropriate supervisor before proceeding Work closely with shop supervisors, quality personnel, and fellow fabricators to maintain production schedules and quality standards Maintain an organized work area and properly care for company tools and equipment Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times What We're Looking For Previous structural and/or miscellaneous steel fabrication experience is strongly preferred.
Qualified candidates should have:
Experience as a structural steel fitter, fabricator, and/or welder Strong ability to read and interpret structural and miscellaneous steel shop drawings Experience laying out and fitting steel assemblies from fabrication drawings Structural welding experience in a fabrication environment Knowledge of common structural steel shapes, materials, and fabrication methods Ability to accurately use tape measures, squares, levels, and other layout and measuring tools Strong shop math and measurement skills Experience operating common fabrication tools and equipment Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills Ability to work independently from drawings while also working effectively as part of a production team Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic Commitment to working safely and following established procedures AWS welding certifications are preferred but not required.
