Job Duties:
Including but not limited to: Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job. Plans details of working procedure and tools and material requirements. Layout and fitting per drawings. Fabricates parts by cutting, burning, and welding various metals. May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape. Repairs parts by using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment. Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded. Sets up, assembles, and tacks weld parts. Builds up worn or defective surfaces. Ensures welding processes, procedural instructions, evaluations, inspection processes, etc. are held to customer and code requirements of all fabrication performed. Fabricate, weld, and assemble steel tooling and fixtures with the use of common metal shop tools/equipment such as band saws, plasma and gas torch cutters, lathes, drill presses, etc. Read, interpret, comprehend, and comply with work instruction, process sheets, diagrams, sketches and blueprints to determine operations, required materials and timeframes for projects. Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment. Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, fit up, and welding operations of structures. Able to effectively utilize fixtures, jigs, and clamps, as provided for effective positioning and holding of parts to be welded. All other duties as assigned.
Basic Requirements & Qualifications:
Including but not limited to: Must be able to read and interpret complex blueprints Flux Core proficiency is a MUST Must be able to pass ASME Section 9 open root weld test High School diploma/ GED and minimum of two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3 years of experience with fabrication within the steel industry Must understand GD&T Ability to read blueprints, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, weld gauges Physical Demands include ability to maneuver up to 200 lbs. independently and safely lift 50 lbs. without assistance.
