Description:
The Welder Apprentice supports the fabrication and welding needs of our family-owned lumber and building materials company. This position is an opportunity for someone with basic welding experience to develop their skills while working alongside experienced team members in a hands-on shop environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, willing to learn, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. This position requires attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work that supports our operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform welding and fabrication work to join metal components according to specifications Operate welding equipment, machinery, and hand tools safely and effectively. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine welding requirements. Inspect work to ensure accuracy, quality, and proper fit. Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition and perform routine maintenance as needed. Identify and troubleshoot basic issues that arise during the welding process. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Follow all company safety procedures and established shop practices. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmets, gloves, and other appropriate protective gear. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Six to twelve months of welding experience preferred. Completion of a welding course, technical program, or apprenticeship is preferred. Experience with MIG, TIG, or other welding techniques is preferred but not required. Ability to read and understand technical drawings and basic blueprints. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Basic problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to follow instructions and established safety procedures. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision. Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn and develop new skills. Work Environment This position primarily works in a welding shop environment. The shop has limited temperature control, and employees should be prepared to work in hot conditions during the summer and cold conditions during the winter. The position involves working around welding equipment, machinery, tools, noise, sparks, and other conditions typical of a fabrication and welding environment. Appropriate PPE must be worn as required. Work Schedule Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Occasional overtime may be required, including overtime with short notice.
