Welder Sunbelt Solomon United States, Tennessee, Decatur 201 Polymer Drive (Show on map) Apr 06, 2026 We areseekinga skilled and detail-orientedWelderto join our manufacturing teamand work on transformers.
The Welderis responsible forassembling and welding metal components used in power and distribution transformers, such as tanks, radiators, conservators, and structural frames.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with welding techniques and can interpret engineering drawings to ensure high-quality and precise builds. Weld and assemble transformer components including: Transformer tanks (oil-filled or dry-type) Radiator fins and brackets Lifting lugs, base channels, conservators, and other structural parts Use MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding techniques based on material and project requirements. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications. Ensure proper fit-up and alignment of welded parts using jigs, clamps, and measuring tools. Perform grinding, cutting, and surface preparation prior to and after welding. Conduct pre-weld and post-weld inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards. Repair cracks, leaks, or damageontransformer tanks or components asrequired. Operate hand tools, overhead cranes, forklifts, and other shop equipment safely. Maintain welding equipmentand tools provided by the organization. Communicate with engineering, quality, and production teamsregarding design changes. Support continuous improvement efforts Following all safety protocols whichincludeswearingappropriate personalprotective equipment (PPE), respirator, glove, safety glasses, etc. Maintain safe, clean, and orderly workstation. Other assigned duties as needed. 1-2 years of welding experiencerequired Air arc gouging, plasma cutting, and stud gun experiencepreferred Proven experience in welding oil or liquid filled tankspreferred Complete and pass pre-employmentand annualrespiratory fit testing in compliance with OSHA standards Proficient in welding processes (MIG, TIG,Stick)on mild and stainless steel. Ability to read and interpretwork orders,engineeringdrawingsand welding symbols. Knowledge of ASME or AWS welding codes is a plus. AWS Certified Welder (or equivalent)preferred A proventrack recordin safety excellence isrequired. Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations set by the organization. Notify managementimmediatelyof any safety concerns, hazardous conditions, or injuries. Meet department and production goals set by supervisor. Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations. Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention todetailand can work in a team environment. Adheres to the company's employee handbook policies and embodies the organization's core values. Ability to learn other department job functions and fill in as needed. Complete company compliance and safety training whenrequired. Ability toworka flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment. Physical requirements for this role include, but are not limited to the following: Lift 50lbs floor to waist and waist to shoulder multiple times Standing and walking for long durations Bending, squatting, and kneeling multiple times for long durations The ability to climb up and down a laddermultiple times Balance and stand on a ladder with three points of contact for extended periods of time Comfortable working in the heat and cold due to manufacturing facilities not being climate controlled
