Shop Structural Fitter Bay Ltd. - 3.7 Corpus Christi, TX Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Outdoor work experience High school diploma or GED Full Job Description The shop structural fitter1 will fabricate, position, align, and fit parts of structural metal products, such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, catwalks, and grating according to blueprints or drawings in a fabrication shop or yard.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers Move parts into position, manually or with hoists or cranes Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools Bolts, clamps, and tack welds parts to secure in position for welding Fabricates machinery frames, tanks, vessels, catwalks, and grating Perform daily maintenance and safety checks Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company's safety culture Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED required At least 3 years' experience as a structural fitter Valid NCCER or able to pass a written test
SKILLS / KEY COMPETENCIES
Working knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings Excellent verbal and written communication skills Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments - results oriented Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary Ability and willingness to travel as required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another Ability to operate job related tools Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help Bay Ltd. is an Equal Opportunity Employer
