Welder / Fabricator - Shop & Field Position We are a growing gate, fencing, fabrication, and metalworking company looking for a dependable, experienced Welder/Fabricator to join our team. This is not a shop-only welding position. Some days you will be fabricating in the shop. Other days you will be in the field installing gates, fencing, operators, ranch entrances, or completing repairs and modifications. This is South Texas. It gets hot. Field work in the sun and heat is part of the job. Applicants must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors and performing physically demanding work. What We're Looking For We need someone who can be given a list of work for the day and get it done correctly without constant supervision. Our owner is frequently in the field and cannot stop throughout the day to answer repeated questions about routine fabrication or installation decisions. We absolutely expect employees to ask questions when something is unclear or when safety, quality, or an expensive mistake is at stake. At the same time, we expect you to think through normal problems, use good judgment, and take ownership of your work. If you encounter a problem, we want you to be able to evaluate it, come up with a reasonable solution, and keep the job moving. Responsibilities MIG welding and general metal fabrication TIG welding experience is a strong plus Fabricate gates, brackets, frames, fencing components, sheet metal parts, and miscellaneous custom projects Measure, lay out, cut, fit, grind, drill, weld, and assemble metal components Read and work from drawings, sketches, measurements, blueprints, and fabrication/shop drawings Accurately use tape measures, squares, calipers, and other measuring tools Perform basic shop math and accurately lay out components before fabrication Safely operate welders, saws, grinders, drills, plasma cutters, hand tools, and other fabrication equipment Assist with field installation of gates, fencing, posts, operators, and fabricated components Perform repairs and modifications to existing gates and metal structures Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment Troubleshoot fabrication and installation problems Maintain tools and equipment Keep the shop and work areas clean and organized Complete assigned work efficiently without requiring constant supervision Help wherever needed to get the day's work completed Physical & Field Requirements This is a hands-on fabrication and field position.

This is a small and growing operation. Nobody here is "too good" for field work, cleanup, loading material, grinding, organizing the shop, or helping another team member finish a project.

Safety:

Work safely, use tools and equipment properly, and speak up when you see an unsafe situation. Preferred Experience Previous welding and fabrication experience is strongly preferred. Experience with any of the following is a plus: MIG welding TIG welding Gate and fence fabrication Structural or miscellaneous metal fabrication Sheet metal fabrication Plasma cutting Ranch or agricultural fabrication Construction or field installation Equipment installation and repair Reading fabrication drawings or blueprints A perfect résumé or long list of certifications isn't required. Competence, work ethic, mechanical ability, craftsmanship, reliability, and the ability to figure things out matter more to us than what's written on a piece of paper. Schedule Primarily weekday work. Start and end times may vary depending on field projects and customer needs. Some projects may require longer days. This position includes both shop and field work.
