ABOUT THE ROLE
We are hiring a Robotic Welding Operator to run our Novarc Spool Welding Robot (SWR) — an AI-enabled collaborative welding cobot purpose-built for pipe. You will set up and operate the cell, load and position pipe, run welds root-to-cap, and monitor quality in real time on carbon steel, stainless steel, low-alloy, and nickel-alloy pipe from 2" to 60" in diameter. As such, a Novarc SWR Operators Training certificate is a requirement for the job.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up and operate the Novarc SWR robotic welding cell for pipe-spool production Load, align, and position pipe on positioners and rollers; manage joint fit-up for automated welding Run welds root-to-cap, monitoring the NovEye vision / seam-tracking system and adjusting as needed Set and verify weld parameters — voltage, current, wire feed speed, and travel speed — for each joint and material Monitor weld quality in real time and ensure per-joint data logging (NovData) is captured for traceability Perform routine cell setup, changeovers, consumable management, and first-line troubleshooting Work from Stratus-driven spool sheets and cut lists Present welds for third-party NDT and support prompt repair of any rejects Maintain the shop's sub-1% weld repair rate and a safe work area, operating collaboratively alongside personnel Coordinate with pipe welders, fitters, and QC on fit-up quality and non-standard joints
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalency certificate Novarc SWR Operators Training certificate Welding fundamentals and the ability to qualify as a welding operator per ASME Section IX (machine / automatic welding) Mechanical aptitude and comfort with equipment setup, HMIs, and shop-floor software
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience operating robotic or automated welding systems (Novarc SWR strongly preferred) Hands-on welding background (GMAW / FCAW) and an understanding of weld quality on carbon and stainless steel pipe Pipe fabrication experience and the ability to read fabrication drawings and spool sheets Familiarity with ASME B31.3 and material traceability practices Troubleshooting and continuous-improvement mindset
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted; push/pull up to 75 lbs Must be able to bend, stretch, reach, twist, kneel, crouch, climb stairs and ladders, stand, sit, and walk throughout a shift Comfortable working in an active fabrication shop environment, including elevated temperatures during warmer months Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet critical deadlines
