Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Orbital Welder to join our fabrication and construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing precise welding operations on metal components and assemblies, primarily utilizing orbital welding techniques to ensure high-quality, consistent welds in accordance with industry standards. This role is essential for supporting complex projects that demand meticulous attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to safety protocols. The successful applicant will contribute significantly to the integrity and durability of our metal structures, supporting our commitment to excellence in fabrication and construction. Responsibilities Execute orbital welding processes on various metal materials, including sheet metal and fabricated components, ensuring compliance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards. Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to determine welding specifications and procedures. Prepare workpieces using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math calculations to ensure precise fit-up prior to welding. Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment for fabrication, assembly, and preparation of metal components. Perform various welding techniques including FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding, TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding, SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and gas metal arc welding as required. Use measuring instruments and fabrication shop experience to verify dimensions, alignment, and quality of welds during and after completion. Follow safety protocols rigorously during all phases of welding and fabrication work to maintain a safe working environment. Collaborate with team members on assembly tasks, ensuring proper fitting and mechanical integrity of welded structures. Maintain detailed records of welds performed, inspection results, and materials used for quality assurance purposes. Support continuous improvement initiatives by adhering to best practices in mechanical fabrication and interpreting technical drawings accurately. Experience Proven experience in construction site environments or fabrication shops involving metal fabrication projects. Demonstrated proficiency with blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and mechanical blueprint interpretation. Hands-on experience with a variety of welding techniques including FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW, and plasma cutting. Familiarity with construction equipment such as cranes and their integration into fabrication or installation processes. Strong knowledge of safety protocols related to welding operations and construction sites. Mechanical knowledge encompassing shop math, machining processes, assembly procedures, and use of measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers. Prior work experience adhering to AWS standards for welding quality assurance. Ability to operate power tools effectively while maintaining safety standards. Experience with sheet metal fabrication, mechanical fabrication tasks, and metal materials handling. Basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations in fabrication tasks. This position offers an opportunity for dedicated professionals eager to apply their technical skills within a dynamic construction environment. We welcome candidates committed to safety excellence, quality craftsmanship, and continuous learning in the field of orbital welding.
